The noisy world of social media and the internet. We are being marketed ‘at’ more than ever before. I can remember coming to Melbourne as a young girl from Adelaide and remember how ‘busy’ Melbourne was – all the billboards, cars, people, trams – there was so much going on, so much to look at and take in. To some it’s overwhelming but to me it was exciting. And for me now it’s much the same with social media and the internet. But some days, I also think it’s all too much. There are more ads during TV shows than the actual show itself. There’s signs on buses, cars, taxis, the sides of buildings, bus shelters. Everywhere you go. But should you take this same approach with your Network Marketing business – absolutely not and I will share with you why.
Some call it “spray and pray”, some call it “throwing mud to the wall and seeing what will stick”. For those of you who have been in Network Marketing for more than 10 years will know exactly what these terms mean. For those relative newbies amongst us here – it means throwing your message out there, everywhere and waiting. Spamming. We have such sophisticated means of finding our target market that this approach really just isn’t necessary anymore.
We have various social listening devices such as Sprout Social, Simply Measured, Talk Walker, Track Maven and many, many more. What these do is listen to what your target market is watching, reading and listening to. Where are they hanging out. What are they doing. When you have this essential information, you have so much of a more informed idea of what message to put in front of them, when and where. Isn’t that just so much more exciting than just throwing your spammy messages out there and waiting to see if anyone is interested??? I know how I would prefer to be spending my time. And I know what marketing I am more likely to respond to as well.
Once you have the above data, it’s so much easier than ever before to target your audience via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Linked In. You can narrow down age, demographic, occupation, income range, family situation etc. How easy is that?? You can get your message in front of qualified people who are actually ‘buy-ready’ and for pennies on the dollar because you are not wasting a single penny on sending a message out to those who are not already qualified, according to your criteria. It could not be any easier!
There really is no excuse to procrastinate marketing. Start listening to what your target audience is doing and start marketing to them. You never know, your ideal client/team member could be just a few clicks/days away. I know plenty who have done it too so this isn’t just theory.
Spend some time today researching your ideal client. Who are they? Where do they hang out online? How old are they? What do they do for a living? Get inside of their heads. This information is pure gold and vital in ensuring your marketing time and spend is efficient and delivering ROI and results! Isn’t that what we are all here for?? We want to see product changing lives and our opportunity doing the same. So what is stopping you??? Get out there!!!
