Change can be super confronting for most people – no question of it.  There’s very few people that have really learned to embrace it and welcome it.  Like anything, it takes a bit of practise.  But honestly if you are wanting to see changes in your life because you don’t like what you see right now, then you will be needing to make some hard decisions.  But the beautiful thing is taking baby steps is the best way to just move forward into the direction of where you would like to go.  As the old saying goes, “Rome wasn’t built in a day” and neither are our goals and dreams.  So what can we do to get started.  Here’s some suggestions.  Now you don’t need to do them all at once, just a pick a few and go from there.  What we’re looking for here is the feelings of positivity and lightness and empowerment that go with seeing a result from doing something different.  This gives us an inner knowing that if we can achieve that one small thing, then we can achieve other bigger things too.  So let’s get started.

  1. Take a course, learn something new.  This could be as a hobby or for a total career transformation.  There’s plenty of adult learning centres everywhere and usually are very well priced.
  2. Go home a different way.  You would be surprised at what you see on that different route that could lead to making different decisions about all sorts of things.  I’ve discovered businesses that I didn’t even know existed simply by going a different way.
  3. If you are looking to lose a few kilos, try something different.  Instead of joining a gym that you know you will quit on, hire a Personal Trainer who will keep you honest and accountable.  Or sign up for a term of Yoga classes.  Book a session with a Nutritionist or Dietician.  If you have a health fund, most of these are claimable.
  4. Instead of binge watching streaming services, head to your local library and pick up a book that grabs you.  This could start a beautiful new habit that will not only educate you in some small way, but also bring feelings of fulfilment and satisfaction when you finish a book.  Or listen to an audio book – just as good.
  5. Looking to meet Mr Right?  Consider where he might hang out.  It could potentially be in places you never before considered.  Maybe even the local Library.  Maybe in your own office.  Try a different café or restaurant.  If you have a hobby and that hobby is a non-negotiable, join a club that facilitates that hobby.  I met my ex-husband and current partner both via my job and we didn’t even work in the same office!  But all three of us have the same hobby.  There’s a clue.
  6. Consider a very different phone, laptop or even car to the ones you are used to.  I recently purchased my very first Samsung phone and absolutely love it!  It could just change the way you see life.  I also drive a convertible – never had one before and boy is it fun!  I LOVE the way it makes me feel when I drive it top down.

I hope you can see where I’m going with this.  The main clue if you didn’t pick up on it is to choose something completely different.  If you are wanting different results in your life, then choosing different is where you start.  And you can simply start small.  Choose a different lunch and/or lunch spot.  You don’t need to do a complete revamp of your entire life, but take baby steps.  Remembering that you don’t need to see the entire staircase, you just need to take that first step.  The next step will unfold as soon as you take the next step.  When you open yourself up to different potentialities and possibilities, the Universe/God/Spirit/Energy (whatever name you give it/Him) will respond and start showing you the things that are in alignment with what you are looking to create.  It need not be scary.  In fact, in my experience, it’s been super fun!  I’m always fluid with my calendar and make ongoing adjustments to anything that I don’t feel good about or isn’t working for me.  It’s like a bit of a test and tune – the only way you really know for sure if something is going to work or not is to just do it.  What’s the worst thing that could happen?  You could end up in a new career that you love.  You could find the love of your life.  You could start a new hobby that you completely fall in love with.  Alternatively, if it’s not – change it up again.  You get to choose.  How cool is that?  So don’t stay still – you’re not a tree.  Move.  Take that step.  Who knows where it will lead?
