Something completely random happened to me today and I would like to share it. It was the oddest of things and just proves that what vibration you put out there, you absolutely get back. I placed an ad in a newspaper last week which went to print and was distributed yesterday. So naturally, my phone has been ringing a lot more than normal. At lunchtime I had a few missed calls due to being on other calls, however the number came up blocked and the person didn’t leave a message, so I thought they would probably call back. So about 10 minutes’ later I receive a text message from a number that wasn’t familiar saying “Hey, how are you today, this is Ed” (I changed his name consequently for privacy). I quite naturally assumed that he was responding to my newspaper ad and the conversation began there.
What was to transpire was quite a fascinating insight into human nature. We ended up chatting the entire afternoon via text. Absolutely innocent. But one of the most pleasant experiences. We shared our thoughts on a lot of things ranging from sport, reading, dogs, working out, our occupations – you name it. Now what would most people have done do you think? I am guessing told this guy to get lost – because he actually wasn’t responding to my newspaper ad. He in fact thought I was someone else – a client of his. So he was texting a wrong number. It turns out that I can really help this guy. So I guess the moral of this story is to never miss an opportunity to just talk to someone. Reach out to them. Ask questions. It’s not what we have in life that makes life valuable, but who we have in it. And every person we have in our lives can add something unique. So never miss an opportunity to start up a conversation with anyone, anywhere, anytime. In the queue at the supermarket. Waiting for a train. At a sports game. You never know where it could lead.
